Two new advance practice providers have recently joined the team at Orthopedic Surgeons Inc. They are Michelle Jordan, R.N., M.S.N., F.N.P.-B.C., and Luke Mathes, P.A.-C. Michelle and Luke are an integral part of the OSI team, working collaboratively with the group’s physicians to meet the needs of the practice’s patients in a timely manner.
Michelle Jordan, R.N., M.S.N., F.N.P.-B.C.—Nurse Practitioner—Michelle has more than 17 years of health care experience, having worked most recently as a family nurse practitioner with Excelsior Springs Hospital Health Express, an urgent care facility. She also has worked in bariatric surgery, as well as in a number of other nursing roles. Michelle earned her master’s degree as a family nurse practitioner from the University of Central Missouri, Warrensburg, Mo.; and her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, Kansas City Mo. She is board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and served as a combat medic in the United States Army from 1999-2002.
Luke Mathes, P.A.-C.—Physician Assistant—Luke recently graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City with a master’s of medical science in physician assistant studies. He earned his undergraduate degree in biology from Missouri Western State University, St. Joseph, Mo. He has also worked at the University of Kansas Medical Center as a certified nursing assistant; at Mosaic Healthcare as a scribe in the emergency room; as a medical assistant at St. Joseph Orthopedic and Sports Medicine; and as a sports medicine intern at Missouri Western State University. Luke is certified as a physician assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
Both nurse practitioners and physician assistants have the education, knowledge and skills to care for a wide range of patient concerns. They are also educationally prepared to assess, diagnose and manage patient problems, including ordering tests and prescribing medicines.
