Charley Atkison, P.A.-C., physician assistant, has recently joined Orthopedic Surgeons Inc. He is an integral part of the OSI team, working collaboratively with the group’s physicians to meet the needs of the practice’s patients in a timely manner and assisting in surgery.
Originally from Independence, Charley graduated from William Chrisman High School, where he played soccer and baseball. He went on to attend the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC), recently graduating with a Master’s in Medical Science Physician Assistant Studies. He also earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Chemistry from UMKC.
While pursuing his education, Charley worked as an EMT with American Medical Response, Independence, Mo. He has volunteered as a leader with the Diabetes Prevention Program; at the Sojourner Clinic; at the Midwest Brachial Plexus Network Summer Camp; and with the Great Plains SPCA, Independence Campus. He received the Community Service Award from the Independence Chamber of Commerce in 2016.
Currently, Charley resides in Grain Valley, Mo. He enjoys hunting, fishing, the outdoors, and plays on an adult softball team.
Charley is certified as a physician assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. Physician assistants have the education, knowledge and skills to care for a wide range of patient concerns. They are also educationally prepared to assess, diagnose and manage patient problems, including ordering tests and prescribing medicines.
