Angela Kay Walker, D.O., the newest member of the OSI team, is the only female fellowship-trained foot and ankle specialist in the Northland, and one of only a handful in the entire city.
“Many people don’t realize that orthopedic surgeons also treat foot and ankle problems, but we do,” Dr. Walker said. “During my fellowship, I had the opportunity to learn and perform a number of surgeries designed to help patients return to their normal level of activity faster.”
Some of those procedures include:
- Flat foot reconstructions
- Arthroscopic ankle and subtalar fusions
- Ankle replacements
- Achilles tendon repair and reconstruction
- Ankle and foot fracture fixation
- Bunion correction
- Treatment of various midfoot and forefoot disorders
Dr. Walker joined OSI following completion of her fellowship at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, Torrance, Calif. She performed her residency in orthopedic surgery with OSI at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Blue Springs, Mo.
Dr. Walker completed her doctor of osteopathic medicine degree at the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences, and earned her bachelor’s degree in biology from Bethany College, Lindsborg, Kan.
She has served as team physician for FCKC Women’s professional soccer team in Kansas City, Mo., and she previously coached and played basketball and softball.
